Therapist in Pennsylvania
My story
Women’s empowerment, social justice issues, and holistic health and wellness has been something that interested me from a young age. I first became interested in activism as I began recovery from an eating disorder in my late teens, and wanted to find a way to combat the harmful messages that women were getting about their bodies. This led to the concept of BeUtiful Magazine, my digital body positivity magazine.
In 2004, I went off to art school, studying as a graphic designer so I could create my magazine. While there, I became much more interested in women’s issues beyond body image and grew more interested in more social justice issues. Eventually, I began volunteering at a domestic violence center, where I would assist low income and underserved women in getting out of dangerous situations and connecting them to shelter, therapy and other resources. It was a powerful experience, and it inspired me to pursue my Master’s in Social Work.
I would go on to attend Temple University in Philadelphia, graduating and obtaining Licensure in May 2019. During that time, I had completed clinical internships at an outpatient drug and alcohol recovery program for women as well as an outpatient mental health facility.
These experiences have all led me here and educated me in trauma-informed practices, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CBT-based trauma framework), and am an Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) provider.
As a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I believe in providing those I work alongside with the skills and confidence they need to make the best decisions for themselves and their lives.
I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to succeed and reach their potential; sometimes we just need someone to walk beside us. I feel lucky that for many people, I get to be that person. It is an honor I appreciate and am thankful for every day.
